Chicago

Tyler, Cameron and I went to visit my sister Mindy, and brother-in-law Jeff in Chicago over the 4th of July. We had a great time. The first day we downtown to "Taste of Chicago". They have all these tent stands with great local restaurants and you buy tickets to sample their food! It was great- we pigged out on corn on the cob, meat, mexican, sundaes and beer! We snapped a shot of us in front of the Buckingham Fountain- the one on "Married With Children"- hence our pose! We also saw "The Bean", this cool art installation sculpture that is a mirror all the way around, and you can go under it. I learned about this in Art History. And of course we went to the Art Institute of Chicago! I love it! Then we ate some delicious Chicago style pizza!

The second day we went to Mindy and Jeff''s gym. It was the most impressive club I have ever seen. This is the club Oprah went to, and President Obama. My favorite thing was the excercise bike that was a video game. You got to choose your path, and race against the other person! Then we went walking downtown by the river, shopping on Michigan Ave. and then we had drinks and watched fireworks on the 97th floor of the Hancock building.

On the fourth, we ate some more... at this cute cafe. Then Jeff took us on a gangster tour. We saw sites like the location of the St. Valentines Day Massacre, and the theatre where John Dillinger was shot down! Pretty cool. Go see Public Enemies at the movies if you haven't already! That night we went on a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan and saw the fireworks from the harbor.

Our last day we caught a Cub's game. Very hot, but cool to see. We had a nice dinner at this cute Italian restaurant, and dessert in their neighborhood. I am so glad we went. Chicago is a neat city, with lots of stuff to do, and charm! It was sad when the trip was over, because Mindy, Cameron and I had a long drive ahead of us- to Salt Lake. We tried to make it fun though. We stopped in Omaha, Nebraska- nothin' much there except the Jonas Brothers tour bus at our hotel. Then we stayed in Denver, and then to a little town called Aspen, where the beer flow like wine (Dumb and Dumber!). Aspen was a lot like Park City. Ritzy, quaint little town. Then we drove to Flaming Gorge for another fun filled family camp out!
